Our history

The company Stackelberg Design has been manufacturing furniture since 1847. From the beginning there was only a small carpenter´s workshop with it´s only business to manufacture and fix things for the locals. Since then it has grown and today it has fully grown to a company manufacturing serveral lines of furniture.
In 1960 Berndt Wolter Stackelberg married his second wife Elsa Juliane Lund, whose family fled from Norway to Sweden during W.W.II. Elsa Stackelberg, educated at the Oslo Academy of Art & Design, inspired Berndt, who was already a furniture craftsman by hobby, to officially reestablish the tradition of furniture making. In the 1960™s they successfully introduced and evolved a garden furniture series called Fri Form and by the 80™s they had also created a line for interiors,including rugged handcrafted wood and wrought iron.

Today
Since 1997 the company is owned and developed by Mr Wolter Stackelberg and his wife.

Nordic Lights. "The Nordic Lights is an electromagnetic phenomenon, which occurs in the night skies over Northern Scandinavia, resulting in gracefully swaying,multi-colored, light patterns," informs Wolter "and this visual image describes Elsa's furniture collection beautifully".
